Folk Dance

Folk Dance Folk dance is a form of art which has evolved
naturally through a period of thousand years in every
village of any country . Folk means Country people .
These people demonstrate their joy ,religious sentiments
& cultural bindings through the form of dance ,
therefore the name folk dance . Dance created by
people for immumerable occasions ,as every human being
has god gifted rhythm in nature .Naturally created folk
dances began with many reasons like celebration of
having a Good harvest , food crop ,good rain ,
fishing , hunting , migration etc . Hunting being
the prime source for tribals , these people also danced
to rhythm till the killed animal was brought and roasted over the fire .

Celebrations for childbirth , engagment and marriages were also very important opic for creating folk dances. Our ancestors also  set dances for praise of Gods & Godesses , which were performed to    please them . Needless to say , leisure time was also a main source of inspiration for various people dancing - a folk dance . It may also be noted that folk dances were not  only for fun and frolick , but also for occasions like going for war or ward off evil  spirits or to calm down natural calamities like flood , storm ,earthquake etc . Basic being the same , in recent years all folk dances have undergone tremendous
improvement  because of latest technology , gradations in music instuments ,costumes , light effects & good places to perform . It is also heartening to know that many Govt. & non - Govt organisations , even small cultural groups hold folk dance festivals , work shops, semnars & competitions to retain this beautiful cultural herditary
